Wilbert and Sierra first met in class at the University of North Texas. They were both studying Communications and Spanish.

He was a tour guide, showing prospective students and their families around campus. She was a bartender at the local bowling alley, showing retirees how to hold a bowling ball in one hand and a drink in the other...

They were in group projects where they were required to study together outside of class and soon became fast friends. After graduation, the two stayed in touch through life’s ups and downs. When Wilbert moved away to Washington, he began reaching out to Sierra more over Instagram and staying in contact through online messages (that's right - he slid into the DM's).

When he moved back to the beautiful state of Texas (perhaps just for her... perhaps for other reasons...), he started messaging her more and asked her out. Sierra was unsure at first if this was a date or just two friends reconnecting now that they were both in the same city again. She was so anxious that she even took a shot of tequila before their first date to calm her nerves. Wilbert, knowing exactly what he wanted, wasn't nervous but he took a shot of tequila anyway... As they walked the pumpkin patch and made jokes about the pigs in the petting zoo, a stranger came up and asked if Wilbert & Sierra could take a picture of her and her husband. And afterward, she offered to take a picture of the two of them. To this day, Sierra says that she only knew it was a date when they went to eat later that evening and Wilbert found a single parking spot in a very crowded lot; but instead of taking it for himself, he saved it for her (while he parked a block away from the restaurant). The first date lasted six hours and they haven't stopped hanging out since.

Three weeks later, Wilbert asked Sierra to be his girlfriend. And the following week, he attended a family party where he met her entire family and practically everyone they’ve ever met.

By January, Sierra met all of his family at his cousin's Quinceñeara and learned that Wilbert was an exceptional dancer (I mean, have you seen him dance to Gasolina by Daddy Yankee?!).

Soon after, she was helping him look for houses. And a few weeks later, they decided to move in together.

And by July they were engaged!
